During the daily engagement, all of us had met the situation by receiving messages like "Address not found". It is frustrating to have the emails bounced. Therefore, this article will discuss the reason for email bounces and how to filter out the bounced email.
In this article, you will read:
Why Email Bounces
There are two kinds of bounces: hard bounces and soft bounces.
Speaking of the hard bounces, they are the email that cannot be delivered permanently, which is because the recipient's email is no longer in use. This bouncing reason is so familiar to us that we are easy to ignore the second case.
The soft bounces are temporarily undeliverable. The reason might be because the recipient's inbox is full or the server issue, instead of the invalid email addresses.
For the hard bounces, hireEZ will help to send out another email on the candidate's profile automatically; while for the soft bounces, we can manually try the next email on the candidate's profile.
How to Filter out the Bounced Email Messages
When we send out emails in bulk, it is annoying to receive some bounced email messages in our inbox. The system reminder sometimes might distract us from the real important emails. Therefore, there are solutions recommended to filter out the system messages automatically.
Gmail User
1. Go to all setting page, and then go to Filters and Blocked Addresses to create a specific filter for it by clicking Create a new filter.
2. Put mailer-daemon@googlemail.com in the "from" field and then click Create filter.
3. Select "Skip the inbox" and then click Create filter.
4. You will be able to see a new filter to skip messages.
Outlook User
1. Go to the settings page and click "View all Outlook settings"
2. Go to Mail -> Rules -> Add a condition, and then put the postmaster@outlook.com in the filter.
After setting the rules for blocking the message, you will not be able to receive the notice that the specific email has failed to deliver. Therefore, you could always go to the hireEZ outbox to check the email status.
